Dr. Julia Polito, OD, received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of California, Berkeley in 2005. Dr. Polito specializes in primary eye care services, contact lenses, ocular disease, and LASIK co-management. Dr. Polito’s animated, caring, and down-to-earth personality has made her especially skilled at working with children. Dr. Polito regularly performs free vision screenings in Moscow, Lewiston, and Clarkston school districts.

Dr. Polito’s clinical experience began at the U.C. Berkeley School of Optometry where she gained experience in primary care, contact lenses, low vision, binocular vision, and ocular pathology. Her extensive training continued as she provided optometric services to active duty personnel and their dependants on the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. There, she emphasized in primary care optometry and refractive surgery. She also provided optometric services to veterans at the Palo Alto VA Medical Center, focusing primarily on ocular disease and low vision.

Dr. Polito’s clinical experience extends from providing optometric services to underprivileged adults and children at the Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland, CA, to providing primary care optometry and pre-post refractive surgery care at the UCSF Beckman Vision Center. She also completed a specialty contact lens fitting externship at the Beckman Center on the University of California, San Francisco’s medical campus.

Patients enjoy Dr. Polito’s friendly and fun demeanor and are frequently surprised by what a good time they have during their visits to her office. She listens carefully, and is dedicated to making decisions that are in the very best interest of her patients.

Dr. Polito has a deep appreciation for the arts despite her kindergarten demerit for “inability to cut with scissors” and the mandatory art-tutoring she received as a freshman in high school to pass art class. Rather than delving into her own limited artistic skills, she opts to support the talents of various artists throughout the Pacific Northwest. If Dr. Polito weren’t living off bags of microwavable veggie noodles and cauliflower, she would be cooking gourmet meals and growing her own vegetables in a lush garden for her children, Maddie and Tyler, and her husband, Dr. Wilson.
